WASHINGTON -The Iranian hackers sent individuals connected to President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign uninvited information stolen from the former president Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, but the invitation was not received by according to the FBI as well as other agencies of the federal government reported Wednesday.
This comes as the latest of a string of cautions issued by federal cybersecurity officials regarding Iran’s attempts to interfere in the coming election, which includes the specific steps required to make public information regarding Trump’s presidential campaign.
It also includes an attack on phishing spears targeted at Trump’s campaign as a retaliation for the actions of the former president that he took while in office to fight Tehran. Tehran regime, including the murder of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qasem Solimani.
The warning to the public from the FBI and in the department’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency or CISA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence was issued due to “the FBI has learned additional details about Iran’s efforts to sow discord and shape the outcome of U.S. elections,” the FBI said in the collective statement.
“Iranian malicious cyber actors in late June and early July sent unsolicited emails to individuals then associated with President Biden’s campaign that contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump’s campaign as text in the emails,” the agencies stated in a statement. The announcement was first published in The Associated Press. “There is currently no information indicating those recipients replied. Furthermore, Iranian malicious cyber actors have continued their efforts since June to send stolen, non-public material associated with former President Trump’s campaign to U.S. media organizations.”

The Justice Department has been working on charges for this breach according to according to the Associated Press has reported.
Additional Information:Â Russia ramping its election meddling efforts to aid in helping Trump beat Harris intel officials claim.
Law enforcement, intelligence and federal agencies have stated they believe that Iran, Russia and to lesser degree China have all focused their attention at the presidential 2024 election in a bid to undermine the faith of voters in the outcome and spark tensions.
Biden was sacked from his race back in the month of July. which paved an avenue for vice president Kamala Harris to run and eventually becoming the Democratic candidate. Harris is in a close race with Trump in the latest polls.
The condemnation of efforts from foreign players to interfere in the election
Morgan Finkelstein, a spokesperson for Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s campaign team, noted they have cooperated fully with law enforcement authorities since discovering individuals connected with Biden were among those targeted for influence operations from abroad.
“No material was sent directly to the campaign; however, several individuals received what appears to be spam or phishing attempts through personal emails,” Finkelstein reported to USA TODAY. He expressed his strong opposition against any attempts by foreign actors to interfere in U.S. elections – particularly any malicious activity undertaken against American elections – such as this unwelcome and inappropriate activity from foreign actors.
Karoline Leavitt, National Press Secretary for The Trump campaign, stated that this development by federal authorities “is further evidence that Iranians are actively interfering in American elections to aid Kamala Harris and Joe Biden as they know President Trump will reinstate harsh sanctions and oppose Iran’s regime of terror. Both candidates should be forthcoming regarding how they used hacking material supplied by Iran against Trump, Leavitt told USA TODAY. What did they know and when did they know it?
Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has raised serious concerns over what has been done with data collected by Biden-Harris campaign staffers.
Turner made an announcement alleging Iran hacked into Donald Trump’s campaign and delivered information to President Biden and Vice President Harris via hacking of Trump campaign officials, prompting questions such as what were they using it for or if there is collusion between Biden-Harris administration and Iran?
‘Russia if you’re listening’
The most powerful Democrat of the panel Rep. Jim Himes from Connecticut has rebutted the claim, pointing out that the joint statement issued by agency officials “makes clear that there is no evidence that anyone affiliated with the Biden campaign responded to the online actor who dangled illegally obtained emails, an online actor that we now know is an Iranian cutout.”
“Thankfully, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden understand that foreign interference in our elections is unacceptable no matter who it helps or hurts,” Himes stated in a statement that he wrote. “It’s worth recalling that Donald Trump famously asked Russia to hack his opponent and his senior campaign staff eagerly met with Russians hoping to obtain hacked documents. He and anyone who excused his behavior should sit this one out.”
Trump has all but urged Russia to create a hack on his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election, saying that Trump was “love to see” private emails from Clinton’s former secretary of state. Trump accepted the possibility following Wikileaks released emails of Clinton campaign as well as Democratic National Committee officials that were compromised by Russia.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump spoke to reporters during an event near Miami at the moment. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”
U.S. intelligence agencies later concluded that Russia was actively trying to hack the elections using a variety of methods to assist in helping Trump succeed and also undermine Clinton’s campaign. In the past few times, U.S. intelligence officials have claimed that Russia continues to interfere in the cyberspace in order to help Trump beat Biden and then Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
Chair of the Senate intelligence committee Senator. Mark Warner, D-Va. He said Russia’s activities in 2016 opened the way for Iran as well as other countries to influence U.S. elections.
“With Russia’s 2016 playbook out in the open, it’s no surprise that other malign actors would seek to follow suit,” Warner stated. “Our adversaries understand that there is an opportunity to exploit the pace and intensity of political campaigns by offering hacked or otherwise misappropriated materials to malicious ends.”
Warner said that the committee’s thorough and joint report about Russian interference also included the recommendation that all campaigns must be against the use of foreign-made materials.
“With fewer than 50 days to go until Election Day, I continue to urge all Americans to be aware of, and stand guard against, efforts by foreign adversaries to influence your votes,” Warner stated.
Internal documents
The month before, U.S. intelligence agencies declared that they had evidence to prove Iran was responsible for the hacking campaign against the Trump Biden-Harris campaign and the Trump administration. This came shortly after Donald Trump’s presidential campaign stated that internal documents and communications were stolen and then leaked to a news outlet.
Iran’s mission to United Nations has denied any involvement in the hacking activities reported by U.S. agency. “We do not accord any credence to such reports,” the mission said to The Associated Press. “The Iranian government neither possesses nor harbors any intent or motive to interfere in the United States presidential election.”

Politico, The Washington Post and The Washington Post, Politico and the New York Times all reported receiving the information. However, there is no evidence that they’ve published any information derived that was derived from the information.
Harris’ campaign also stated that that it had been the victim of a failed “spear phishing” attack aimed at compromising its firewall as reported by according to the Washington Post reported.
Last month U.S. intelligence officials have said Russia is increasing the efforts to interfere in elections in the days as Election Day nears, working specifically to aid in helping Trump beat Harris – and attempting to influence down-ballot election results as well.
