India aur Sri Lanka ke beech pehla ODI, jo ek tie par khatam hua, mein Super Over nahi khela gaya, is wajah se kaafi controversy hui.
Samjha jaa raha hai ki on-field umpires ne ICC ke playing conditions ko follow nahi kiya, jo December 2023 se lagu hain aur is series ke liye bhi applicable hain.
On-field umpires Joel Wilson aur Raveendra Wimalasiri ne match ko tie hi declare karne ka decision liya.
Yeh hai ICC ke current playing conditions for ODIs: “Agar dono innings ke baad teams ke scores equal hote hain (DLS ke under applicable), to ek Super Over khela jayega. Agar Super Over bhi tie hota hai, to jab tak exceptional circumstances arise na ho, tab tak subsequent Super Overs khele jayenge jab tak ek winner na mil jaye. Agar Super Overs ko khelna ya complete karna possible na ho, to match ko tie declare kar diya jayega.”
ICC ne bilateral matters par comment karne se mana kar diya hai apni policy ke roop mein. Indian team ka spokesperson ab tak is matter par respond nahi kiya hai.
Yeh Colombo RPS mein 149 ODIs mein se pehla tied match tha. Hosts Sri Lanka ab series mein lead mein hain apni second ODI victory ke baad. Ab sirf ek aur ODI bacha hai, India ke paas series ko level karne ka best chance hai, jo unki 11 consecutive bilateral series (2+ matches) victories ke run ko khatam kar dega against Sri Lanka.
