In Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, two villagers were executed by Maoists who accused them of being informants for the police. According to local authorities, the incident occurred in a remote area, with police still gathering full details.
Preliminary reports indicate that three villagers, including a school student, were abducted by Maoists from Jappemarka village under the Mirtur police station jurisdiction earlier this week. The insurgents later held a ‘jan adalat,’ or people’s court, where two of the villagers, Madvi Suja and Podiam Kosa, were sentenced to death and hanged from a tree. The school student was reportedly released unharmed.
The Bhairamgarh area committee of the Maoists has claimed responsibility for the killings, stating that the victims were police informants. After receiving news of the incident, law enforcement officials dispatched a team to the location to investigate further.
